Description:

Abstract:

This data layer contains point locations of all major community, regional, comprehensive health, and healthcare provider hospitals in the state of Vermont. The listing of current hospitals was obtained from the 1998/1999 & 2000/2001 "Vermont Manufacturers' Directory", published annually by the "Vermont Business Magazine". Included within the attributes of the database are Annual Sales Ranges, Employment numbers, and hospital contact information. This data layer does not include Psychiatric or Specialty hospitals.
Many of the point locations of hospital sites were obtained from EmergencyE911_ESITE data layers and verified with checking USGS topographic quadrangle maps, while other point locations were captured from orthophotos or USGS topographic quadrangle maps directly.

All Emergency Service Numbers (ESN) contained within the feature attribute table (.PAT) have been obtained from the EmergencyE911_ESZ data layers.

Logical_Consistency_Report:

This data layer has been created using centroids of 1979 orthophoto-based building footprint data acquired from the City of Burlington, and 1996/97 EmergencyE911_ESITE data layers acquired from MicroDATA, Inc. Hospital locations within other cities and towns which did not have these datasets available were obtained from USGS topographic maps and digitzed in reference with the EmergencyE911_RDS roads street network.

Completeness_Report:

The list of hospitals existing within Vermont was obtained from the "1998/1999 Vermont Manufacturers' Directory". Psychiatric & Specialty hospitals were not included as part of this datalayer.
