Baystate Health has been recognized for its innovative and wide-ranging use of GIS in health, from research to direct patient care to disaster preparedness. We describe some of the ways in Baystate Health has applied GIS in healthcare, with a focus on spatial statistics. Some of the challenges in using healthcare data in GIS will also be discussed.
