GIS Day is a grassroots event that formalizes the practice of geographic information systems (GIS) users and vendors opening their doors to schools, businesses, and the general public to showcase real-world applications of this important technology. At these web pages you will find links to web mapping applications relevant to this year's theme and listings of events going on around Vermont.
GIS Day is part of the National Geographic Society's exciting initiative, Geography Action, which encompasses key educational achievements such as GIS Day and Geography Awareness Week. The theme for 2007 is Asia. We will be posting some interesting Web Mapping Applications that focus on or include data for Asia soon:
In Vermont, public and private organizations open their doors to the public to give citizens and students a look at how GIS is done, as well as to show the many mapping and analysis applications for which it is used. Check the website closer to November to see what is going on around the state! In the meantime, you can visit the international GIS Day website: www.gisday.com.
If you are thinking of sponsoring a GIS Day activity, presentation, display, or open house, send me a note and I will post information about it at this web page!
