VT GIS Resources for Educators and Students

Vermont Center for Geographic Information:
You are here! VCGI's main task is to provide GIS data to whoever wants it, for free. You can search for and download data from our data warehouse, or you can peruse the interactive and static maps at the map center. Visit the "About VCGI" page to learn more.

Vermont Social Studies Project:
The Vermont Alliance for the Social Studies sponsored a project that developed videos and a website to showcase excellent educators. Check out Steve Neiderhauser's "Being Geographers" section.
Regional Planning Commissions:
Service centers for assistance in obtaining GI Services and data. Each RPC has a GIS specialist. Click on the title above to find contact information for your RPC.

Lake Champlain Basin Atlas:
The Lake Champlain Basin Atlas by the Lake Champlain Basin Program contains more than 40 full-color maps about the Lake Champlain Basin, articles about the maps, photographs, and a glossary. It also contains resources for information, including websites and factsheets.

Vermont Geographic Alliance:
The VGA is an organization dedicated to supporting teachers and students in sustaining geography content in K-12 Education. The Vermont Geographic Alliance (VGA) was established in 1991 by K-12 teachers, college and university faculty, and interested citizens. The VGA is part of a nationwide alliance movement which includes all 50 States.
