Overview:  The Enterprise GIS Consortium (EGC) is a voluntary consortium of state government organizations focused on effective management of State’s Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS). The formation of the EGC represents the culmination of a yearlong (2007-2008) strategic planning effort managed by the Enterprise GIS Taskforce (EGT). The EGT setout to establish a realistic and effective Enterprise GIS strategy for Vermont; a vision and a plan that would be sustainable and support a wide range of needs within state government. We believe we have done that through the drafting of Vermont’s Enterprise GIS Strategic Plan, a plan that has been reviewed and vetted by a broad spectrum of state agencies and departments. The EGC has replaced the EGT as the group responsible for managing the State’s Enterprise GIS.
