Leslie joined VCGI in January of 1997 to help create the VT Spatial Data Partnership. That work gradually evolved into performing the functions of an Outreach Coordinator, and in June of 1998, she was officially designated a permanent part-time employee in that capacity. Leslie coordinates professional development events, the quarterly newsletter, brochures and pamphlets, and aspects of the VCGI website content. She also teaches a very introductory GIS course during the summer, does presentations about VCGI at numerous events throughout the year, and staffs the VCGI booth at conferences.

Before joining VCGI, Leslie attended graduate school (in Morrill Hall, back when VCGI was there too!), served coffee and pastries at Mirabelles cafe, worked as farm assistant at Sterling College in Craftsbury Common, VT, and was a residential counselor at a group home for mentally ill adults.

Leslie has a B.A. in Biology from Williams College, and a M.A. in Community Development and Applied Economics from UVM. When she isn't sending out mailings and organizing meetings she eats local food, knits, reads, and plays with daughter Willa while husband Peter tries to finish building their dream home in the Green Mountains.
